my fascinating so-called diet

The purpose of the gall bladder is to store bile, a substance produced by the liver, which has two functions:
1) it neutralises acid produced by the stomach
2) it emulsifies fats, i.e. breaks them up into tiny droplets for digestive enzymes to work on

poll for my curiosity

Is it my imagination, or is gall bladder trouble about as common as appendicitis? In the past week, the number of people I know who've had their gall bladder removed has expanded from 3 up to about 10, or 15.
