That's a reasonable thing to be envious of :( Although the reason I have disposable income is because I live with Richard, and he would have paid for me to go. I personally still don't have a huge amount of money, although I've been working for a while now, I can only work part-time or my health starts to play up. If I wasn't in this relationship, I probably wouldn't be able to afford to live on my own in this area, I'd have to share with someone or move somewhere cheaper. And that makes me feel odd, sometimes.
Fortunately, the Richard & I relationship is good, and he honestly doesn't mind contributing a lot more than 50% to the bills, because he'd rather me work part-time and be healthy than try to work full-time and then have to take 3 months off to recover. Also I do a lot of the housework - cooking, cleaning, organising (noticing that things need to be bought, even if I don't necessarily do the shopping), and sort out the joint finances. So he thinks it's worthwhile paying more if I'm doing all that stuff that he doesn't like doing.
Mind you, it helps a lot that I live in a country with heavily subsidised healthcare. If I had to pay market price for all my medications, I'd have nothing left at the end of the month.
