my lunchtime dilemma

Today I have IBS. Whoopie fucking do. Haven't eaten anything in the past 24 hours that could trigger it, so I've no idea where it's come from. But I'm having to figure out what the hell I can eat for lunch when even "safe" foods are going straight through me.

I thought you'd really appreciate me giving you that image before lunch >;)

Teaspoonsful of cornflour or similar. Revolting, and results in the opposite problem almost immediately, but does enable the actual intake of nourishment. Doesn't work if you're throwing up, obivously, but it doesn't sound like you are.

IBS + morning sickness = yuk yuk, by the way.

What do you do with the cornflour? Try to swallow it as powder? Dissolve it in water? Or just mix it in with other food?

Morning sickness isn't something I ever plan to experience :) On the other hand, is your mentioning it a suggestion that perhaps you are to be congratulated? (Trying to phrase that in the most neutral way imaginable considering the differences between us!)

Cornflour: Try to swallow it as powder, but you will have to wash it down with water. It just absorbs yuk, that's all. It absorbs it enough that you may end up constipated.

Morning sickness: Yes, nearly ten weeks, thank you for the congratulations :) and be deeply, deeply grateful that you will never try to feel grateful for morning sickness combined with IBS. Er, yes. That makes sense if I read it through a few times.

That's immensely cool! Congratulations! Properly, this time. I didn't want to say it the wrong way so that it would rub in that you weren't pregnant if you weren't pregnant, if that makes any sense. Like I said, being mindful of the differences between us, and knowing you'd been desperately wanting kids for a while.

But yeah, it's very cool when people who want to be pregnant are :)

Hope you start to feel better soon. Most people lose the nausea at around 12 weeks, so with luck you will soon be over the worst. With my first baby I had all day nausea, but no actualy vomiting. It was just incredibly difficult to actually face food ... but it passed eventually, and my daughter was (and still is!) my pride an joy.

How does one discover one actually has IBS? I am starting to wonder if my semi-frequent episodes of uncomfortableness actually add up to something I should get checked out.
