rollercoaster that is not to be

I think I'm going to cry! I just found out that Alton Towers wanted to build a GIANT wooden rollercoaster for the 2005 season, but weren't allowed to because of planning permission.

I LOVE wooden coasters.
And I LOVE the Cross-Valley path at Alton Towers - and wish it was easier to walk round, and there was an alternative to the cable car that let you see it properly.

Hmm, a look at the layout makes me think it wouldn't have been that great. It's the turns that make Zeus @ Parc Asterix so good. This would have had a good drop, but then just rise, turn, drop, return.
