baratron: (sleepy)

not very with it

Today I am ill and distracted. Have this constant nagging feeling that there's something I'm supposed to be doing, but I can't think what - I've rung all my students to reschedule them, the laundry is done, the dishwasher is run, we put our recycling out last night... I have Pain, which is my excuse for having no brain. But it's not gall bladder pain (thank God), it is evil right hip pain. Apparently I spent a lot of last night running in my sleep, and I woke up with an agonised, stiff hip. Ow. I wish you could buy replacement body parts on eBay...

Richard is working "the asshole shift" this week - 4pm to 1.30am. Even then, he was still late for work today owing to still being in bed. Useless boy! I have a student coming over tonight, nothing planned for tomorrow, then should be working as usual on Wednesday & Thursday. Nothing planned for Friday evening (may have a student from 3-5pm). Deliberately not taking on anyone new for a few more weeks - barely managing this lot :/

There is an eight-legged beastie on my lap. It seems that when you tell the US Postal Service to track a parcel, they manage to keep it tracked right up to the point of delivery. I am impressed. He seems very well mended thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kshandra, and quite full of perk thanks to Burning Man. Hooray for Yowies!

When they said Express, they meant it! I'm so glad he's home. (Did he show you his tag from the Animal Sanctuary?)

And I meant to tell you that Yowie is more than welcome to come visit any time he'd like. He was a very well-behaved (and well-loved) houseguest, and was incredibly patient with me as I mended him.

He is a very calm (& calming) creature. That's why he's my usual bed-creature :) Can't have someone demanding or difficult as a bed-creature! They'd be wanting things in the middle of the night when I'm trying to sleep... When Richard sleeps with Paploo, he usually wakes up to find that Paploo has stolen half the duvet and most of the bed space. I don't know how he manages it.

It's funny how plushies have personalities, but all of our most-loved ones do. Like dino is a very neurotic little creature, yet also very brave, curious and intrepid. He's neurotic principally about becoming extinct - he's not quite sure what it involves, but is sure he doesn't want it to happen! But then he doesn't fear any of my illnesses, because he is a reptile and cannot catch mammal colds.

Yowie and Fin (the ray) are the only ones who don't speak out loud, but they still have strong personalities. The ones that do speak only say one word anyway: the ewoks, teddies and dino all say "meep", the wolfies say "growl", and the Pokemon say their own names. But we know what they're saying.

I tried looking for bowels on Ebay at one point, mostly got all sorts of colonic irrigation treatment-type things. In any case, one of the side effects of inflamed intestines is allegedly restlessness, so maybe that's why you have the feeling that you need to do something?

I've looked for shoulders and skeletons on ebay before. Sadly nothing of much use came up. I'm now on the market for new vestibular systems, or perhaps a surgeon who'd be prepared/able to nuke mine from orbit.
