o joy

Guess where i am? That's right! In my favourite place ever in the universe, a.k.a. Kingston Hospital! Yay!

Pain started around 6.30pm last night. Took paracetamol & codeine at 7.30pm. Threw that up at 10.10pm. Took tramadol at 10.20pm. Threw that up at 11.10pm. Took domperidone (antiemetic) at 11.30, and puked THAT up 20 min later. That was when I told Richard to call 999.

So I had a nice ride in an ambulance, and several hours in A&E, and more puking, and pain so bad it still hurt despite i.v. morphine, and falling out with my dad after he told me off for screaming (!), and lots of prodding of my PTSD triggers, but am a) not dead and b) not in the bloody astor ward. Instead am in the Sycamore ward and liking it much better despite its unfortunate name. got NO sleep last night, hoping for a bit more today.

they are keeping me for "some" days, depends how well i do, i guess. Joyfully, the internet terminals above the bds WORK now! so am more cheered. visiting is probably still 3-8pm, and i'd recommend organising it with richard.

No fun. :(

If you and Richard are willing, I'd recommend asking about both of you being taught to do intramuscular injections, as tramadol as well as some other painkillers can be given that way. Then if this situation comes up again, at least you can do something to control your pain when you can't keep anything down. (And won't have to be in total agony until the ambulance turns up with morphine.)

The district nurse taught me to do it for Cam (after a bout of stomach flu where he couldn't keep things down), so I assume you should be able to get someone to do the same for you.

Oh damn. I hope you can arrange to be properly cared for and sedated and get rid of that evil gall bladder soon.

Hugs.

Oh dear! Hope you soon feel better - will take a rain cheque on visiting as I have the dreaded lurgi which is keeping me off work. Judging by others in our office it may be a week-long one, too. :-( Still, nothing like as bad as you are going through. ::hugs::

Get well soon.

And if you want someone to yell at your father--who shouldn't have turned up if he couldn't accept that you're in pain and that hospitals are primarily for patients, not relatives--let us know.

I'd second [livejournal.com profile] quiet000001's suggestion, and note that IM injections aren't that difficult, because if you miss the spot you're aiming for by a centimeter or two, it doesn't matter.

Get well soon, hope they will find something to stop the constant pain. *hug*

*hugs* I'm sorry things are being nasty to you. I would swat your gallbladder and tell it to behave, but that might make things worse. So I shall simply send one gross of hugs and one gross of spoons for your use as needed.

Glad you're in a ward that isn't evil; is there any chance of (and could you possibly stand) rescheduling the surgery now that they've actually got you there? (If this is a Bad Idea, feel free to thwap me.)
