and the shock news just in...

Richard has actually managed to book a couple of days off work at the end of this week!

We want to use our Madame Tussauds Season Passes to go to Alton Towers before the end of this season. Next week is half term, so from Saturday onwards, all of the theme parks in the country will be madness. Then immediately afterwards, they all shut down for the winter. So I'm very glad that Richard will be free on Thursday and Friday, so we can go up then.

I've found out the train times and prices, and booked a room in a b&b in Alton village. It all looks feasible. Now I just have to hope that the idiots at his workplace don't screw this up for us...

A request if I might

If you do the wax museum thing, could snap some pictures for me?

I happen to find wax museums fascinating.

Thansk, no matter what. :-)

Sorry :( We went to Madame Tussauds in London about two years ago, and found it incredibly boring. Lots of statues of people we hadn't heard of (sports and media types ). The only really interesting bit was the Heads of State room. Also, the Planetarium (which is next door) used to be worth going to, but when we went two years ago we found they'd replaced the educational starmap thing with a noddy "multimedia experience" about people from Mars, so I doubt we'll bother with that again unless we hear it's improved.

Rock Circus is great, but apparently it's being closed down at the end of this year. I imagine that most of the statues from it will go over to the main Madame Tussauds site, so that might be a bit more worth going to then.
