This week, I have been mostly playing The Sims.

And not reading or posting to livejournal at all. I suck.

But so that you might better understand my addiction, I've put together a page of screenshots of Sims doing strange things. Enjoy!

*grin* - thanks, gnomes?

Sims need to improve their skills to get better jobs. There are six skills, and you need different combinations of them for each of the career paths. You can improve the skills in a number of ways:
Cooking - by reading a book or by using the canning centre
Mechanical - by reading a book or building gnomes
Body - by working out, swimming or riding a mechanical bull
Charisma - by talking at yourself in the mirror or by playing a card game
Creativity - by painting, playing the guitar or playing the piano
Logic - by playing chess, making potions or looking through a telescope

For some reason, there seems to be a bit of a bug in the workstation you use to build gnomes. If you're not careful to make your Sim stop building, he'll just carry on indefinitely until he falls asleep from exhaustion. Jed Sockbiter seems to be particularly prone to this for some reason!

I'm about to buy 'On Vacation', have you got it yet?

My addiction is still running, it's sad how long it's lasted...

The Sims on Holiday

It rocks! It's the best of all the expansion packs so far. If you haven't already got Hot Date, don't bother - it's bugged to hell (and totally non-poly, but that's another issue!). Whereas I've been playing On Holiday constantly since Saturday and only found one tiny bug (in the snowball fight object). Everything that pissed me off about Hot Date has been fixed in On Holiday, and most of the new objects that can be used in the Vacation area are completely surreal.
