greetings from Heathrow

I missed my flight :( This is partly due to the fact I went to bed at 3.20am, partly because I'm never a morning person, partly because I'm an idiot moron girl who thinks it only takes an hour to get from home to Heathrow (when it's an hour on the bus, and it takes time to walk to the bus station with heavy bags, and the buses are only every 10 minutes), and partly because the damn departure board in Terminal 3 lied to me (it said "Go to check-in area B", and didn't mention the check in was closing). So now I'm sitting in Heathrow Gate 17 waiting to see if I'll get onto the 12:15 flight.

Richard had a go at me for just waiting in the queue instead of speaking to a member of staff, but I honestly thought I was ok because the sign hadn't mentioned the flight was closing! And I'm already being punished for my idiocy. I've had less than 3 hours sleep, and I'll be starving for the next 9 hours because I can't eat normal airline food. (I bought a bagel which I'm hoping is dairy-free, and a vegan falafel wrap from evil Starbucks). Bah.

Try taking some more of the starbucks food through the security. Or, buy some on the other side, there's a starbucks in the departure lounge. Extra bonus points for Starbucks if you can ask the landside one to call the airside one and hide vegan food until you come to get it.

Oh hell, sorry to hear that. I've never yet missed a flight, but I've come perilously close a number of times (the last, on an Amsterdam to Southampton journey, would have meant an overnight stay had I not blagged my way to the front of the security queue and then sprinted the half kilometre to the gate).

Hope by now you're safely in the air on the next flight! Have fun in Minneapolis.

I didn't have a go at you for waiting in the queue - if I'd realised they weren't going to let you on I'd have suggested something earlier - it was for not leaving enough time to get to the airport, but mostly because I was tired and grouchy, being Not A Morning Person, especially after 3 hours' sleep. And I don't like airports, they're like Waiting For Godot on a grand scale.

I really hope you got on to the next plane (the one you originally wanted!) ok.

*hugs*

I hope that you got on the plane and that you got something to eat that didn't upset your tum too much and that I will see you tomorrow.
