Bored in the airport

My flight is already delayed for half an hour. Oddly, they claim this will make no difference to the arrival time. At least modern airports have free WiFi so I'm not chewing my own arm off with boredom like I was in Detroit airport in 2000 (the worst 4 hours of my life, which is impressive considering I've been in hospital in so much pain they gave me morphine a few times).

There was a Second Cup just through security, so I have safe-for-me hot chocolate now & my life has dramatically improved.

Yay for hot chocolate!

My flight this morning was 15 minutes late leaving, about about 30 minutes early arriving. At least some airlines seem to leave a reasonable amount of buffer in the schedule for delays.

May your flight go well as well.

It's also got a lot to do with the tailwind they get at this time of year.

Yeah, the pilot mentioned 140 mph winds, which was terrifying as a concept. Mind you, it was also bumpy as hell for a while. Apparently it smoothed out once we got into a part of the jetstream that was "only" 90 mph.

Sorry to hear Detroit hasn't got better from when I was last there in the 90s. Did they still have the lines of security guards welcoming you off the plane all pointing guns at you? Used to scare the crap out of me as a kid...

I don't know, haven't been there since 2000! I've avoided it ever since!

My flight was the one BA flight a day that's routed directly from Toronto to Heathrow, since Richard refuses to fly into the US only to fly straight out again. I can't blame him - it is the most ridiculous thing in the world having to clear US Customs and Immigration (and running the risk of them randomly taking a dislike to you) when you're not even planning to stay in the country!
