See the FAQs for the official website of 10 Downing Street. Are we really so celebrity-obsessed for question no 3 to be "Can I get an autographed photograph of the Prime Minister?". Or is this further proof of Tony's self-importance?

The even more worrying thing is that you, in fact, can obtain said signed photo, by "putting your request in writing to the address on our contact Number 10 page. You must ensure you have included your full postal address."

Plus, in the answer to question no 2, I note a greengrocer's apostrophe, in the form of "Prime Ministers Question's" instead of "Prime Minister's Questions".

Argh. So, about that emigration to Canada...

I don't know that coming to Canada would get you away from celebrity-obsessiveness in any useful fashion, but I'm greatly amused at the image of someone trying to claim some sort of asylum because of the terror of the misplaced apostrophe.

It is possible that it is a genuine question which people do ask frequently. I think that most famous people get asked for their autograph even if they are not entertainment celebrities.

Of course Canada seems nice too, and I have met *some* nice Australians. :-)

You know that going to Canada is extremely difficult if you're not in ship-shape in *every* way, as I had to find out the hard way... Oh and my French wasn't quite up to scratch either, not that I would have needed it in Vancouver. I do still have very fond memories of the days when I had a one-year working visa...

You could always follow the example of Tony's father-in-law, and flee to the Republic of Ireland. Being an EU citizen, there is no nonsense about residency permits.

I'm sure it is a genuine question. What disturbed me is that the answer was "yes".

I'd have expected the Prime Minister's autograph to be something not easily handed out for security reasons, f'rex. But of course, it won't be his official autograph, but just the scribble of "Tony".

Heh. If I was really, really wanting to leave the UK for political reasons, I would go to Brussels. Mostly because economic migration within the EU is easy for EU citizens, and the city already feels like home - if, for some bizarre reason, I HAD to leave London, that's where I'd go.
