Random link OF DOOM: Dance Dance Immolation. DDR with real flamethrowers, aimed at you. Part of me is thinking this has to be a spoof, but apparently it'll be at this year's Burning Man festival.

I can't decide if my reaction is "Oh my God, I want to play this now!" or "I can't believe I live in a world with people who'd want to do this". Or perhaps it's both, at the same time.

From several sources, A Beginners Guide To Faking Your Death On The Internet. Video, with sound. Having been a victim of something like this recently, I laughed. A lot.

From but not by [livejournal.com profile] elynne, Worstest fantasy story EVAR!! (deliberately). As a parody of bad fiction, it's pretty damn funny.

[livejournal.com profile] rosefox recommended Niels Bohr and the Sleeping Dane, by Jonathon Sullivan. Amazing story that made me cry buckets. Recommended for everyone who loves atoms, perhaps especially poignant for Jews, I'm not sure. The best thing is it is a short story that is true science fiction because it's about science, yet it contains a strong fantastical element. I wish there were more fantasy books with real science in and more science fiction with fantastical bits. I eagerly welcome recommendations for more stories in this genre, whatever it's called. (Note that I get all tooth-grindy about BAD SCIENCE in fiction, while unexplained science/magic is okay.)
