I'm not really comfortable with that being applied to, uh, negative emotions. I lack the words to explain this further. but saying "It's ok for you to be terrified (even though everyone else I know in this situation was fine), because you are a Unique Individual" is almost a worst cop-out than "I couldn't help it, I was depressed".
It really doesn't feel good to me to apply that concept to fear. Probably should take this to email, except I still won't have the words for it next week or even next month - I'm sort of waving my hands trying to get the emotion in my brain to translate itself into actual English vocabulary, but I don't think it's going to happen. Just having profound unease about it.
