It was our anniversary today :P

Richard & I have three anniversaries - we first got "together" on his 21st birthday, then we were very confused for a while, then we got together "properly" - and the date when we decided we were together "properly" was 1st February. So 9th November is our "unofficial" anniversary, and 1st February is our "official" anniversary. And 1st August is our "half-"anniversary, because February and November are both crap months ;)

So we have now been together "officially" for 8 years (and unofficially for quite a bit more). We Are Old.

I have a problem. I am wearing a black cardigan, and black trousers. And they clash.

Washing has made the cardigan become a sort of browny-black - with "bright" black satin edges where the two halves meet. The trousers have become a kind of blue-black, like ink. They are both black, but different shades. Shades of black. How freaking bizarre.

(Yep, I've made this observation before - I've been wearing mostly black for quite a few years, now. But it still surprises me.)

You are not Old. cattitude and I have been together for 21 years, and I'm not Old.

volund explained to me once that a lot of black fabrics and hence garments are the result of a fabric company dyeing something in another color or pattern, and it either doesn't come out properly, or it doesn't sell, so they overdye it with black. If the black dye fades with time, the differing underlying colors can appear.
