baratron: (Warning: Sick!)
[personal profile] baratron
Oh, bloody hell. I had a hot shower about 50 minutes ago to try to ease the pain in my back. Got out the shower clean but feeling very sick, checked my body temperature and it was 37.7 degrees C. (Normal for me is 37.0-37.1 when moderately warm and active.) Despite sitting still and drinking water, it continued to climb to 38.1 degrees C.

I have taken paracetamol and still have a temperature of 37.7, and have almost thrown up four times, and now I feel absolutely freezing despite being fully dressed. But apart from the dizziness and nausea, I still don't have any other symptoms of being ill. This is really annoying.

"Dizziness", "nausea", "freezing", "fever", "muscle aches" -- what other symptioms of being ill do you WANT?

I mean, I guess you COULD get sneezing and a cough if you wanted to, but I think you've collected almost a complete set already.

Ha! Says the man who had trouble justifying not going to work when he was coughing so badly he could hardly speak!

Of course, I don't WANT to be any more ill than I am now. But theoretically I'd like to have some symptom that makes me feel justified in not going to work. I can normally work perfectly well with dizziness, nausea, fever and muscle pain - in fact, pain is pretty much an everyday part of my life, so it doesn't mean much. It was the retching and gut cramps and almost throwing up four times that made me decide I couldn't risk it. But now I feel guilty for not going in - especially when it's possible I have a high temperature and nausea for reasons that are non-contagious (e.g. gall bladder being evil again). Neither of the students I was going to see tonight have imminent exams, but it's inconvenient for them for me to cancel with such short notice, and I hate having to do that.

And it's the fact I want to be better by Saturday, and NEED to be better by Monday that's making me annoyed about a lack of symptoms. Some cold and flu-type things take 5 days for all the symptoms to show up, and I need to be BETTER in 5 days!

Looking back the back pain itself could be gallbladder too? I know [livejournal.com profile] kimble's primary symptom of blocked bile duct was back pain as it was all referred and annoying.

I hope it settles down soon, wretched thing.

Well, I managed not to know I had gallbladder trouble for years and years because the pain is in almost exactly the same place as the scoliosis (twist) in my spine, which has a habit of randomly hurting a lot for no good reason anyway. But this is lower back pain which was coupled this morning with a sore, hot right rip - from thrashing around in my sleep :X
