Poor Richard has got a bit of a cold. He's not feeling particularly ill, but his nose is so blocked that when he says "I've got a blocked-up nose" it comes out as "I'b got a bocked-up dose".

I'm not ill, but I've slept absolutely appallingly two nights in a row. On Sunday, I didn't go to bed until nearly 6am on Monday morning because I had email to send, wasn't that tired, and I'd forgotten that I had a doctor's appointment at 10. Suffice to say, I got all of an hour's sleep, if that. I staggered out of bed and into my clothes, and sat in the doctor's waiting room in all my outdoor clothes (including gloves), shivering because I was so tired. When I arrived home again, I felt quite awake, so I sent some more email and posted a few things to livejournal. Then, about 1pm, I realised I was going to fall over unless I got sleep soon, so I took some melatonin and went to bed. I then proceeded to have ridiculously vivid dreams that woke me up every half an hour, and a couple of hallucinations. Ugh.

I had to get up at 7 despite my lack of sleep because I'd promised to go to [livejournal.com profile] the_maenad's birthday drinks, and I'd suggested a restaurant for us to go to afterwards, and I was the only one who knew where it was. Eurgh. The pub was nice - quiet, interesting decor, cute dykey barmaids - it did good food, and afterwards we went to Tinseltown for milkshakes, but I was feeling terribly groggy and not very good company.

Then when we got home, I had a couple of things that I needed to do, so I did them and went to bed. But couldn't sleep. It was 3 o'clock in the morning and I'd only had something like 5 hours sleep the night before, but first I was too hot, then too horny, then too hungry to get to sleep. And at 7.30am some people outside decided to have a very loud argument. *sigh* So I eventually fell asleep about the time that Richard was getting up for work. I'm not happy.

Sweetheart, you are *always* good company as far as I'm concerned, and Monday was no exception. Thank you (and Richard of course) for coming along, and thank you a second time for the lovely card and the prezzies!

I still think when they asked to speak to Colonel Bob you should have said "This is him" in as low a voice as you could manage, and then if they asked for a quote on the war (which is what I assume they wanted) you could have seized the opportunity to get in some pacifist viewpoint (or whatever angle you espouse).
