baratronI feel horrible. Got another stinking cold, and I've been wheezy & short of breath for a couple of days. This is getting ridiculous. When I was a kid, I had absolutely no immune system, and would go down with a cold every 3 weeks. I remember reading that the average adult gets 2 colds a year, and laughing - as I generally had closer to 2 colds a month. Then, a couple of years after I stopped living with my parents, I actually made that target - I had precisely 2 colds in a 12-month period. I was delighted!
And now I'm back to having colds on a 3 or 4 week cycle - one week of going down with a cold, a week of having the cold, a week to 10 days of being okay, and repeat. Argh! What is wrong with my immune system? Where has it gone? How come I managed to have one for all of a year, and then it went away again? *Sigh*...
I've tried echinacea. These days, it goes straight through me and/or gives me abdominal pain and bloating. I take vitamin pills - not taking them makes my mental health fall apart. I don't have showers before I go out, and I never go out with wet hair unless it's the height of summer. I think I do everything I can to avoid going down with colds - yet I still catch them all the time!

Date: 2002-10-22 10:44 am (UTC)have you gotten formal food allergy testing, or have you (like me) been doing it by elimination? it's possible you're allergic to something besides milk that is affecting you and your immune system. here, most kids[1] with chronic ear infections are taken off of dairy & wheat. have you tried wheat elimination?
simply noodling. i'm currently at this annoyed place where i can keep eliminating things that bother my stomach, but then something new will crop up. ugh.
but for the past year or so, i've only had two colds, and that is still a miracle :)
[1] except for me, which is why my mom should sue my pediatrician, since he never suggested it despite it being common practice and my ears were so bad i had two sets of tubes and two eardrum ruptures
