Well, I suppose I should finally get round to writing up my BiCon. Except I can't really be arsed. Oh well.

First follows a rant about the trains, especially for [livejournal.com profile] londonstatto. Feel free to ignore this if you're not a regular user of British public transport (or read it to find out what to expect when you next visit here).

A rant about the trains, only two weeks late. (But the trains don't do much better.) )

After actually arriving at BiCon, things looked better. At the accommodation, I found quite a few other people that I knew and we all walked up to BiCon together. I even managed to get someone to stop on the way for me to indulge my carbohydrate cravings. After surviving public transport hell, I needed a litre of drink with no less than three types of sugar (fructose, glucose and sucrose) and two artificial sweeteners (aspartame and saccharin). Of course, normal people would have just chosen something caffeinated, but my weird body biochemistry means that caffeine hits me like speed, so stimulants are strictly verboten, unless I want to spend the day speeding out of my skull.

We arrived at BiCon to discover that the programming rooms had rather odd names. Other people have mentioned this already, but I thought I would just add my !! to it too. The rooms were all named after computers in science fiction films, so we had Hal, Multivac, Toy, MCP and, erm, Ira. Which was written in block capitals. So at least half of us thought that one of the rooms was named after the Irish Republican Army. Not perhaps the image that the organisers were trying to cultivate.

All about the workshops )

I'd been planning to go to a couple of the workshops on Sunday morning, but then I hadn't been planning to go to bed at 5.30am. So I said "sod it" and slept instead. I got up at 11.45am because I was hungry, and cooked some food in the flats. While I was in the kitchen, David came back with several people, none of whom have livejournals, and we all talked together for a while. Then I went up to the con )

Didn't bother with any programming on Monday. I needed to sleep. As it was, I only got about 6 hours sleep. What did that make, 11 hours sleep in 3 days? No wonder I was hungry all the time - I was replacing sleep with food!

Got up in time for the poly social on Monday lunchtime. Had a few interesting conversations, and took a few amusing photos. (Link will be added shortly - watch this space). Went back to the accommodation, packed up and sat outside on the grass talking to all sorts of people. We left at 3pm, and the delights of Sandra's car had me back in London by 5. I'd requested to be dropped off somewhere on the Northern line - I was so tired that I can't even remember where. Never mind. Made it home, snuggled with Richard and went to bed. At 7.30pm. And got up again about lunchtime on Wednesday.
