arranged in decreasing levels of seriousness... btw, you get today's post all in lower-case because the tendon/ligament attaching my left thumb to my hand is being evil as it does sometimes.

from [livejournal.com profile] katyha, Caring for Your Introvert. this is really interesting, as i am partnered to two introverts, and i myself am emphatically not one when healthy: i'm painfully shy and socially anxious, but gain huge amounts of energy from being around people i know. i need hardly any alone time and need huge amounts of time spent with other people - i start to go a bit crazy if i'm alone for more than a few hours at a time. if there's such a thing as a shy extrovert, that's what i am.

from [livejournal.com profile] mactavish, The Problem With T.A.T.U. and associated discussion. kind of sums up my thoughts, only with more reasoning.

from [livejournal.com profile] j00j and the "aieeee!" school of disturbing japanese websites, Nippon Meat Packers Inc. provides hot dog art. meep.

Am having an existential five minutes due to searching through my journal for an old post and finding things written in January 2002 that I remember as though they were January 2003. Is my life really that boring?

I seem to be able to use my left hand to type now as long as I don't actually move my thumb at all. I hate being prone to random tendon crapness (I'm pretty sure now that I remember my doctor saying it was tendons that were at fault rather than ligaments, though I'm still not sure what the difference between a tendon and a ligament is).

In trying to find the correct number and position of accents in a name (Renée, for those who are profoundly nosy), I have ended up at the Kabalarian site again. I am still completely amazed by the analyses of the various names Helen, Louise and Helen-Louise. I'll refer you to the previous discussion about Barnum statements and so on, so no one needs to make that point again.

It's just really interesting to see the differences between the three names - that Helen is seen as too forceful and analytical, whereas Louise is seen as too emotional, and Helen-Louise is sort of a balance between the two. Read more... )

S1 and S2

Eeek, my livejournal has returned to one of the default styles instead of the style I'd created myself! Perhaps user-defined styles using S1 have been killed off now S2 has come in? Would have been nice to have been told, though! It happened literally just now - I reloaded my journal to check that my last post had come through okay, and suddenly it looked completely different!

Argh! I don't have time to write a new set of styles with S2 until my thesis is finished! Damn them!

Update: Oh, it's back again. Huh. Well, I'll keep this post here as insurance, in case it happens again...
