WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD TODAY?

The past 24 hours have brought:

• one friend's death (nephrozym) & another's bereavement (quiet000001) - obituary-thingy by Kris here.
  
• one friend whose dad's just had a heart attack.
  
• one friend who's waiting to see whether his fiancee will be ok following a heart operation.
  
• one friend who seems to be about to resign from their job after months & months of stress and problems with it.
  
• oh... and Bush signed legislation to try to "save" a woman who's been in an apparently permanent vegetative state for 15 years.

Yeah, I know. It's a definite shitstorm. You probably don't know him, but sobrique got beaten up at the weekend and is in hospital having severed ligaments in his ankle mended, and lostdreamer666 is in there too with a recurrence of his leg problem, and bansidhe was a witness to a nasty cycling accident on her way to work this morning...

I'm about at the point where I'm not feeling like reading LJ for a while, because I scared to find out what the next piece of crappiness is going to be.

Yeah. Frankly, the only good piece of news (http://www.livejournal.com/users/rivka/242062.html) today is from rivka. Oh, and bethdeth got her braces taken off (http://www.livejournal.com/users/bethdeth/68251.html).

Meh.

I hope no one will think badly of me if I spend even more time than usual playing Pokemon rather than communicating with people... just not feeling up to being terribly communicative.

Well yes, those are good news.

I think that taking time out isn't just sensible, it's necessary. Being on LJ isn't as such a counselling job (even if it sometimes feels like one), and even if it was it's vital to be able to spot when your needle's dipped into the red and know that you MUST take time away to recharge.

But it really is weird how all this stuff has suddenly hit. It's not so much like being slapped around the head with a wet fish, more like having the complete contents of Grimsby docks land on you at once...

Dads doing better now and should get seen to properly in the next couple of days in Edinburgh. He's being his usual perky self and spent most of Sunday kicking the magazine i was reading, so he's obviously getting better ;)
