Apparently I should vote Lib Dem. Well, there's a surprise - seeing as there's currently an enormous "Vote Lib Dem" poster in our front garden, and a slightly smaller one in our back window that overlooks the railway line. And the local candidate has seen Richard in his dressing gown at godknows am.

Who should I vote for?

The LibDems take a strong stand against tax cuts and a strong one in favour of public services: they would make long-term residential care for the elderly free across the UK, and scrap university tuition fees. They are in favour of a ban on smoking in public places, but would relax laws on cannabis. They propose to change vehicle taxation to be based on usage rather than ownership.

-57 for the Conservatives and -28 for Labour. Only -12 for the UKIP! This probably comes from the fact they don't have any published policies apart from "Get out of Europe" ;)

Much as for reasons of I disagree with them the least I shall be voteing Lib Dem, I am begining to think this meme is rigged. Everyone I know has come out with Lib Dem so far.

there has been a lot of discussion about this, including some wild accusations that it's been commissioned by the LibDems (untrue).

it seems that the questions have been chosen rather more in line with the LibDem manifesto than others – still, i have seen some people getting things other than LibDem.

the other hypothesis is that, actually, the LJ-using community does contain an awful lot higher proportion of LibDems than the full population (for instance LibDem support amongst students and other 18-35 year olds is considerably stronger than the national average, and a large part of the LJ-using population falls into that demographic).

unsurprisingly, i came out as a LibDem too, and satisfyingly strongly so. i'd have a board in my garden except a) no-one would see it and b) the other residents might object. no-one's torn down the poster in the window yet, though, which is a good sign ;-)

I think the defence and freedom questions are heavily weighted, as I could only change the result by answering differently in that category. So maybe not Lib-Dem biased, just anti-war biased (possibly!).
