me: I think cefalexin sounds like a headache drug.
wuz: It sounds like something you'd give an ill octopus.
me: Well, cephale means head, so a cephalopod is a creature with its pods attached to its cephale.
wuz: Hmmm.
me: And metronidazole sounds like a... contraceptive pill. Something to regulate monthly cycles. Like a metronome.
wuz: I've never seen an antibiotic that didn't have an x in the name.
me: Penicillin?

Streptomycin (and a bunch of related things, like vancomycin). Tetracycline. I'm not sure I've ever seen an antibiotic that did have an x in its name.

Amoxycillin, the most commonly prescribed form of penicillin in these here parts, has an X in. I can't think of any others though.
