Huh. That's an interesting family (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanaceae): Potato, tomato, aubergine/eggplant, peppers, petunias, tobacco, mandrake and deadly nightshade. I knew that potato was related to deadly nightshade, but didn't believe the person who told me it was related to tomato.
I suppose it would be possible to make an entirely solanaceae meal by doing a ratatouille with tomato, peppers, aubergine and paprika, and serving it with potato - and a thick cigar. And then I really would be eeeking.
I am currently taking scopolamine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopolamine) that's been modified with a butyl group attached to the nitrogen. Sadly (?) this version does not cause hallucinations, it merely helps with evil crampy guts.
One day I'm hoping to do a nice big research project on all the lovely chemicals made by the Solanaceae. It would take a long, long time to run out of material.
I actually think hallucinations would be unhelpful if my own organs were hurting me, but maybe I've just been around elynne and her spleenweasels too long.
It wasn't until I read the last poll option that the penny dropped as to what the problem was supposed to be - I was mostly thinking "well, for my taste, the textures of potato and pasta don't go that well together and I only feel like eating tomato-based sauces at fairly widely-spaced intervals, but that's just me..."
Heh. I am The Carbohydrate Queen, or one of them at any rate (I think rosefox and wispfox would both challenge me for the crown). I tend to think that a good meal should involve at least 2 different forms of carbohydrate, and a very good meal should involve 4-5. So an Italian meal that involves garlic bread or pizza, pasta, roast potatoes & cake would be excellent, as would an Indian meal that involves poppadoms, potato curry, rice, naan bread - and possibly a chapatti or poori as well.
Having said that, lately I've been able to eat a lot more vegetables than I used to be able to, so my diet has become a lot more varied. So my first response on realising that I wanted potato and pasta and not much else was "I must be premenstrual". (Yes, the calendar and my lower abdominal pain would confirm this). Also, I was wondering whether the subset of people I know share the belief that it's very odd to eat pasta with potatoes :)
you didn't have my option
