Also, because I was in a silly mood:
This is my life.
A lovely picture of all the pills and potions I have to take in a month. Click on it for the full-size version & to read the packets.

Yes, I remain very grateful for the NHS and state-sponsored prescriptions. My pharmacy imports drugs from all over the EU (which is why many of those packets have foreign text on them with an English label glued on), and I see the price in Euros of the drugs. Woah.

I'm glad your country covers that stuff.

We have an increasingly large co-payment and some things (like your antihistamnes and painkillers and dietary supplements) are not covered...

The three that are on the right - the V2000 vitamin pill, the calcium supplement and the primrose oil - are all things I buy myself. (Although I probably could get a calcium supplement on prescription if I really pushed for one - apart from the usual being a woman with a family history of osteoporosis, I need it to fend off depression. I go really nuts if my calcium level gets too low. There's a theory that severe PMS is the body's way of telling you that your calcium level is too low. No idea if that's true, but I haven't had much in the way of premenstrual dysphoria since I started being very careful about calcium.) The paracetamol & codeine at the front is over-the-counter.

Oh right...and I rather suspect your calcium theory is true for some.
