Oh yes, just in case anyone cares, I have PROOF that my current period is way early, from the fact that I specifically recorded one starting on 5th December. I know I've had two more since then, including one that turned up around New Year's Day, but even considering that December and January are "long" months and we gain a week in the middle, this one is at least 4 days early.

Just to reward those of you who bothered to read this, here's a cartoon that amused me.

Am I a freak because I was taugh to note the first day of my period from when I began menstruating, and although I don't have the records all the way back any more, with a bit of lead-time I could probably tell you how long my cycles have been each "month" for almost 20 years?

My average was 33 days, 29 was early and 27 (which has happened exactly once naturally) was freakishly early. 42 was actually quite common for a while, particularly after my sister started menstruating, because her body wanted a short cycle and my body obviously did not, so she was on 21 and I was on 42. My poor mother who was going through menopause said her body didn't know what to do. (I've been on the pill the last five years, so they're pretty boring now).

You're a freak, but I envy you your well-informed-about-self-ness. I will raise my daughter to be a similar freak.

And the new one, who exists because I have attempted to cultivate freakish habits :)

I love the cartoon! They're both so happy!

My period has always been kind of a mess timing-wise, so four days would be nothing, but I do keep semi-obsessive track in a file named "blood" on this computer. (The fact that this is the old, not-entirely-working laptop means I may have to move my file soon. Grr.)

Mine was exactly 28 days for years, to the extent I could predict the hour it would start to within 6 hours. It got screwed up by a drug I was on for about a year, but it's been slowly "improving", and usually starts on at least the same day of the week. That's why I'm so confused.

Also, I usually go seriously nuts around day 25, and I didn't have that this month. I'm not *complaining* about that, just wondering what's going on.

This period was fairly icky, as well. Sometimes when it's early, it's also quite light, but this one wasn't. Hmmm.

I've decided this getting older lark is No Fun. I used to be 31 days, bang on to the hour or so, but now I appear to be 26/27 days and decreasing . Mind you, I suspect I've b*ggered up my hormones with the IVF cycles for the egg donation. Tempted to go back on the pill not for the contraceptive bonuses but simply so I can take them continuously and reduce back down to 3-4 periods / year.

Never needed to. Like I said, it used to be exactly 28 days. And I'd always have plenty of warning, because my breasts would swell up around day 21, by day 22 they'd be very sore indeed, by day 24 I'd be moody and irritable and feel all fat with water retention, and on day 26 I'd be completely psycho. Normally my actual period is something of a relief, because although my legs go leaden and achy, I know it's the end of all the bad symptoms for another month.
