Things I don't recommend: travelling across the Atlantic Ocean on the first day of your period. If I did not have 30mg codeine phosphate on prescription, I don't know what I'd have done. I was taking alternating doses of painkillers: 1g of paracetamol then 30mg of codeine 2 hours later, and it was only relieving the pain enough that I wasn't screaming. Aspirin makes me wheezy and ibuprofen makes my throat close up, so the best thing for period pain, mefenamic acid, is verboten.

Anyway, we are now in Toronto. We appear to be staying exactly between the hippy/bohemian district and Chinatown, which suits me perfectly. Imagine an entire district like Brighton, but cheap. I don't know if it's the pound to dollar conversion, or simply that London is so expensive that anywhere else seems cheap. But we went to Whole Foods last night, a place that is generally considered "expensive", bought a ridiculously large amount of stuff, and it was under £20. The vegan chocolate mousse I bought would have been £5 or more at home, and it was CAN $4.80 - much less than half the price. And the Chinese restaurant on Spadina had main courses for $7-8, which turned out to be three times the size of main courses at home for £4-5.

We are going to Toronto Zoo today to see the wolves (yay!). I think we're meeting up with bcholmes & the_siobhan for dinner, though I don't know where yet. Guess I'll call one of them later on.

Tylenol (aka panadol, I believe) with codeine and aspirin with codeine were, last I checked, available over the counter from Canadian pharmacies. I have with me also, tramadol, and as we'll see you tomorrow, let me know how you're feeling.

There's a place called The Garlic Pepper at Yonge and Wellesley (at the Wellesley subway station, just a few doors north of the intersection). I *think* it'll be at 9:00 pm, but I'll double-check with Sio.

Hiya! I got asked what the plan for tomorrow (Monday) is. The ROM is open, if that interests you, from 10am - 9:30pm, as far as I can tell. Their message actually says, rather than that they're closed, that, "The ROM celebrates Canada Day week with extended hours." *shrug*

There was also talk of Tandoori House up by us or Kama downtown (also Indian) for dinner, so we were curious if you folk would be up for that. Kama would be buffet, so you may have less control over your food, although you can order a la carte rather than getting the buffet if you prefer. We were mostly thinking that it would save you having to trek all the way up to the northern hinterlands just for dinner.

Also, clawfoot was thinking of making you a vegan chocolate cake, but we weren't sure if you'd be able to eat it, because it might be too high-fat. I think she said that the cake, which I think is a 9" square pan, has a half a cup of canola oil in it. Any idea if that's okay / not okay?

Anyway, let me know what's up if you get this! We're at a wedding for the rest of the evening, unfortunately, but I'll make sure to check my e-mail before I hit the sack. I think you're at Niagara Falls all day, so you might not get this or if you do only late, but, we'll see.

Okay, I just looked at your schedule and it look like you've updated it with some info. I believe the Science Centre is also open. Both could be done that day, for sure, as long as you don't get museumed-out or standing-and-walking-slowlied out. The Science Centre is up closer to where we live. Either ordering works fine. The Science Centre appears to be open from 10am - 5pm.

In the evenings, it's the premiere of the Transformers if either of you are that brand of geek. I don't have my heart set either way, so it's no beans to me, but I thought I'd mention it in case either of you are super keen. Anyway, that's enough babbling. Look forward to hearing from you!

Yes, London is very expensive. According to this http://www.finfacts.ie/costofliving.htm it is the 2nd most expensive city in the world. Amsterdam (expensive already in my experience) is 25th.
