I suspect that there aren't a lot of entry-level openings in that field right now, unless (which might be an act of good sense right now) someone who did have a job to fill threw away any resume showing investment banking experience in the last ten years.

I would be much less sarcastic about the whole thing if I didn't have a good friend (who may identify herself if she chooses, bearing in mind this is a public post) who got a job at a now-deceased bank through one of these "employ the disabled" schemes, who discovered that all the bank did was pay lip service to the idea of employing the disabled. I believe she spent six months there and only achieved her ESSENTIAL FOR THE JOB accessibility equipment a couple of weeks before she left. One of her friends there couldn't GO TO THE TOILET without permission, as there were three doors between him and the accessible loo, and he could not open the doors himself due to his disability - and the bank would not pay for new doors to be fitted "because of health and safety".

There are other stories, but they are not mine to tell. But it has made me extremely cynical about big companies putting on a recruitment drive for disabled staff, if said companies may be doing so only so they can tick boxes on government forms. I'm especially cynical when said companies have notoriously un-disability-friendly or family-friendly working hours and practices. Even if I wasn't a good little socialist, I could NEVER get out of bed at the hours required for a banking job AND stay there as late as they require without making myself ill, within days.
