Bah. I had hoped to be spending the rest of this week a) cycling and b) playing bass guitar, and not a lot else. Instead I need to get my PhD application form submitted because that's what's needed in order for me to apply for the College Research Studentship. It's fees only for three years, but even that is a considerable amount of money.

I don't like filling in application forms at the best of times, let alone ones where I'm supposed to tell people how awesome I am. And it wants me to suggest a research proposal, which is all still up in the air depending on whether my first choice of supervisor can sort certain things out. Blargh.

I was sorry to miss your b'day do on Sunday, but also delighted to be welcoming my daughter to our home for the first time in absolute ages. C'est la vie, I suppose. Hope you had a fab time.

That's okay - it was short-notice to the point where I was not only texting London friends on the day, but could only contact London friends whose numbers I already had in my phone! So I couldn't invite several people that I'd really have liked to see, and I was surprised that as many people could come as did. I'm sure I'll catch up with you over the summer, now I'm nowhere near as busy :)

I'm planning to have a 33 1/3 party like [livejournal.com profile] djm4 did, and that will be a) much more organised and b) around October 21st.

Blargh indeed. If you want people to read your stuff and say encouraging things, I'm around.
