Slightly crap day.
Mar. 19th, 2002 11:45 pmToday was pretty awful. If I'd had time to write in LJ earlier, you'd have been treated to a long, in-depth rant about everything that went wrong today, but now I've calmed down sufficiently that I can't be bothered wasting any more time on it. Instead, I'll give you a brief summary:
Crap things: South West Trains (this morning), buses, WAP (x2), Directory Enquiries, Post Office opening times.
Surprisingly un-crap things: The Jubilee line, South West Trains (this evening).
Good things: Toasted baguette, carrot & butterbean soup,
chrismoose.
I should write about the weekend, but I'm too tired to now. Looking forward to next weekend, would anyone like to come to Chessington World of Adventures this Friday (22nd) for the opening? Unfortunately, the new Vampire won't be ready until after Easter, but I've already booked the day off work and it's only 70p on the bus to Chessington with my Tussauds Season Ticket :) Let me know if you're interested...

Date: 2002-03-20 12:27 am (UTC)Clearly all the effort's gone on Thorpe Park - they had all of last year to get Vampire up again, and in that time they've built the new one at TP.
When I suggested the day out, I was thinking of TP, but OK... The weather forecast's for something other than the sunshine you need to enjoy TP and Vampire's not working status will be a good way to pick up some discount vouchers for use later in the year.

Date: 2002-03-20 01:25 pm (UTC)I wrote a paragraph about how I prefer Chessington to Thorpe Park, but I finally gave up trying to get Opera to open the Thorpe Park website and booted up IE on the laptop, and there are quite a few rides there I've never been on. The main disadvantage of Thorpe Park over Chessington is that it's considerably harder and more expensive for me to get to, especially if travelling before 9.30am. Hmm - having said that, the information on the TP web site is definitely implying that holders of a season pass get the extra ride time on Colossus (that would cost anyone else £30) for free.
I've just looked at the Colossus "virtual ride"...
I'd been put off by the publicity saying it was a "10 loop" rollercoaster - I was thinking about the coasters I've ridden in Canada that were 3 loop and how ill they made me feel. Having looked at the track in detail I've discovered it's actually a 10 inversion coaster - there's only one 360 degree loop. Argh! I now don't know which one to go for - Chessington or Thorpe Park? What do you reckon,
(Further comments about Chessington & Thorpe Park can be found in the comment I've just posted to an old thread (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=baratron&itemid=66211&view=140195#t140195)).

Date: 2002-03-21 01:13 pm (UTC)Why don't we CWoA tomorrow and book a day after the Easter holidays for TP, inc early ride time?

I don't think I know you, and we don't have many friends in common, so I wondered how you found my journal. A search for SWT? Surely not!
I don't mind you reading (otherwise I wouldn't make stuff public), but I am curious as to how people find me...
