the Richard update

Guess what time Richard got home the other night?


11 o'clock the next morning!

He left for work at 10am on Monday and got back at 11am on Tuesday. What happened was something technical which I didn't quite understand - but it was an urgent job, and there wasn't anyone else around who could fix it. Since their engineer left, Richard's now the only person in the company with a clue about technical stuff. The company badly needs to get a new engineer - and it has to be someone competent, as an incompetent engineer is worse than none at all.


In other news, I am very amused by this livejournal entry in bethdeth's journal.

Dose the enggineer get payed more than Richard If so I'd guess it's payrise time.

Don't think he did - I think Richard was technically his boss.

Richard is always overworked and underpaid, and he always hates his job - but if he cut his hair, wore a suit and went to the City as a programmer, he'd be even more unhappy. When Mike was at Condor Richard's job was not too bad, but until they get a new engineer he's doing the job of three people instead of the two he usually does. And they can't just appoint anyone, because if the engineer is crap people will spend more time fixing his mistakes than if no one was there at all.

uhhh... *sigh*

Everyone here seems to be looking for new jobs. Trouble is the competant ones have already been bribed to stay with large rises.
