Oh look. Scrapbook went down from 11.30pm-3.30am GMT. status.livejournal.com claims it is, really, honestly, fixed.

It isn't.

At this point, I'm more amused than anything else. I could've uploaded the pictures to my own web site a dozen times over and had time left for dessert. Now it's a battle of wills. Who will crack first? The h-l monster or the LiveJournal Business Entity?

In other news, something VERY BAD happened in my Sims game tonight. Photos will follow when LJ Scrapbook decides to co-operate. Suffice to say I have emailed the real person that the sim is based on and told him not to Watch Clouds for the next couple of days, because I really wouldn't handle it if he got hit by a falling satellite & killed in real life ;)

It's ok. Sims can plead with the Grim Reaper. And even if that hadn't worked, I could have Quit Without Saving.
baratron: (introspection)
An, introspection at 6 o'clock in the morning. Don'cha love it?

I mentioned in passing earlier that I was listening to "very weird symbion project stuff". One of the tracks is called 2 Hour Tekno because [livejournal.com profile] kasson wrote it in 2 hours. "i was bored one night and decided to see what i could write and program, mix and master, in just 2 hours. it's not that bad considering." <-- Understatement of the frigging millennium. You can download it here and listen for yourself.

I'm already jealous of his musical talent - in as much as you can be jealous of someone that you're in total awe of while not actually falling down & worshipping at their feet. (Because sending him a laundry basket was loony enough, I don't need to get a reputation). And then I hear THAT. The guy writes better music in 2 hours than I could write in my entire lifetime. (I'm not joking - on my old Archimedes there is a sound sampler & synthesizer program, and one day if I'm feeling very, very mean, I'll dig out my "compositions" and convert them to a modern format, for you to cringe at).

So then I got to thinking about talent, and why his (and anyone else's) ability to consistently write good songs bothers me so much.

Read more - it's long, and waffly, but maybe worth reading. )
baratron: (ankh)
Today has been a Bad Pain Day. Have spent hours lying in bed clutching my gall bladder. Yay.

More importantly, it is World Aids Day. Light a candle. Apparently $1 will be given for AIDS research for each candle lit.

[livejournal.com profile] geminigirl recommended [livejournal.com profile] ruralrob's journal as worth reading, and indeed it is. Today's post is called Shame, Philadelphia and Redemption . . .. Night and day . . ., Banded and AIDS on the streets of Montreal are also on the same theme. And his other posts are interesting. I especially liked Montreal graffiti.

Another highly moving article is this Final Salute. About the US Marines whose job it is to notify families of their loved one's death. 12 pages, and I cried all the way through. And I'm not even American.
