More molecules!

Analgesics (painkillers) that I have personally taken - with bonus educational bits! Big image.

It says a lot about how easy ChemDraw is to use that I generated all the molecules in under an hour, and the other 50 or so minutes I spent was writing waffle about all of the drugs for
mjl (and anyone else who's interested).

Date: 2009-03-21 10:39 am (UTC)I hope this is as fun to do as it is to read. I didn't know about the difference between 'opiate' and 'opioid' or that codeine and morphine were very similar in structure.
Pethidine is evil, I do not understand why in the UK we still use it because it's so fucking evil. They gave it to kim when she had her trapped gallstone removed and it did nothing except make her hyper hours - she is totally ok with hospitals so just let them get on with it not realising it was supposed to make her forgetful or drowsy. She was signing like a maniac when she came back from theatre then her short term memory was shot for weeks.
Buscopan is very cool - we discovered it by accident over the counter.
