I have reached a stage of ARGH with my work, so I'm going to post all of the links I have cluttering up my "working" Firefox profile :)

From [livejournal.com profile] epi_lj: Hollywood's Racism Exposed ... by Lego. Interesting.

From [livejournal.com profile] skibbley: New bisexual IKEA ad airs in Austria. It's amusing... apart from continuing to propagate the "bisexuals are cheaters"/"can't be monogamous" stereotype. Or does it? Maybe the boyfriend simply doesn't like to be in the flat when his partner is having sex with his girlfriend!

From Shana Logic: IKEA Let Loose a Herd of 100 Cats Into Store to 'See What Happens'. If you're really interested, the ad was shot in the branch of IKEA we used to go to when I was a kid (Wembley). We don't go there any more because there's one much closer to us now (Croydon).

From Beetlebau on #soc.bi: Night of the Living Trekkies (book trailer). Books have trailers now?

Finally, in case you haven't seen this anywhere else, and care: the Complete Pokedex for Pokemon Black & White.

Pokemon are cute but some seem to involve less imagination and creativity in their creation than others. "Gear" for example. WTF is that? It reminds me of "Shoe" the Chinpokomon http://www.spscriptorium.com/Season3/E310guests.htm from South park.

Meaningless pedantry, but I've got some of the 1999 Star Wars Lego (which was not all classic trilogy, mostly Phantom Menace, and doesn't include Leia - she arrived in 2000), and Darth's head is grey. See http://www.brickset.com/reviews/?set=7150-1 where a 2000 reviewer, before the 2002 rerelease of a set with Darth in, mentions that his head is grey.

http://www.brickset.com/minifigs/browse/?Theme=Star%20Wars shows only two grey Darths and no yellow Darth, also showing brown and black TIE pilots and Stormtroopers and beige Tusken Raiders. These are all pre-2003 releases with non-yellow standard shape heads.

I don't know what the first non-yellow Lego figure was - it could well have been Vader in 1999 - but it sure as hell wasn't NBA stars in 2004, although that opened a can of worms which in retrospect was unfortunate, making Lego yellow a standin for "Caucasian" not "anyone".

Now Star Wars figures have pink skin. Phooey.

The sentence in the IKEA ad is something like "Because Florian has to store large things, IKEA has the fitting solution". In the background at the end you can see the closet door opening and a hand grabbing a slipper.
