Oct. 15th, 2012 06:47 pm[Poll #1872578]Apparently, I have a type. And that type is "depressed emperors".
Specifically: intelligent, introspective emperors who have just suffered an incredibly traumatic event that's left them with PTSD & having to rapidly come to terms with a massive change in worldview; who have only a handful of friends in the world who see them as a man rather than a figurehead; who are desperately lonely and scared.
Gregor Vorbarra, you have a lot to answer for. But at least you're in a book. A whole series of books, in fact, and you gradually become less emo as you grow older.
Martin Septim is in a 6 year old video game, with crappy textures, a scary lack of facial animations, & what we in the Sims community call "broken-ass wooden hair" (i.e. his long hair isn't meshed to move). And he's voiced by Sean Bean. If I admit to fancying him, people might think I have a thing about Sean Bean. I totally don't! I might fancy his Martin voice, but that's really not the same as fancying him. It's the emo emperor and his scripted tragedy that does it for me.
